Air Innovations – the leader in custom environmental control solutions for temperature, humidity, filtration, and pressure – announced the availability of a new case study on an international manufacturer to the photonics industry for which the company helped design a custom thermoelectric-based control system that could effectively rate the lumens in light emitting diode bulbs.

The photonics manufacturers builds imaging devices in aerospace, medical, optics, and a variety of other industries and required an ECU that could be momentarily turned off five seconds and then come back on instantly. Air Innovations designed a solution of automatic diverter dampers so the ECU could operate continuously, but the supply air to the test chamber could be suspended for five seconds. The custom temperature-control system can maintain a diverse number of settings within a wide range of temperatures to meet the client’s specific needs.

Additional key specifications were temperature control to accommodate various LED test ranging from 5 – 50 Deg C (+/- 0.5 Deg C), air flow range of 30-400 CFM , and internal heat load from 0 to 900 watts. The system was delivered to Brazil, so international power and codes also needed to be considered for the sphere spectrometer system.
